PERSONAL INTRODUCTION:

I am a visionary, a tireless advocate, a social changemaker, a renowned Nepalese Dalit Rights Activist, and Journalist of  Nepal, involving in the sectors of Dalit issues, human rights, peace, democracy,  humanitarian support, elections observations, youth leadership, Dalit empowerment, gender based issues nationally and internationally through mass media mobilization, discussion, debate, discourse, campaign, workshop, seminar, conferences and  other various ways since more than two decades. Moreover, raising the voice for human rights, freedom of speech, peace, democracy, rights of Dalit (vulnerable communities), diversity in media, representation of other backward classes (OBC) to eliminate the caste-based discrimination, for Dalit empowerment, and ending untouchability, and social justice, and spread educational awareness, through mass media and advocacy at the national and international levels.

Currently, I have been serving as a president of the Jagaran Media Center since 2008, Chief in Editor of Dalit Dignity Post (2020). In addition to that, I am a member of the High-Level Inclusive Media Commission under the Nepal government, information and communication ministry, coordinator of inclusive media alliance, Member of the Asia Dalit Rights Forum, member of the South Asia Network for Community Media, Central Committee Secretary of the Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ), former Chairperson of the Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP), and founder member of the Democracy and Election Watch (DEW), member of International Dalit Solidarity Network, Member of a high-level committee for mass media policy, under Government of Nepal, information and communication ministry, member of International Dalit Solidarity Network ( IDSN) and member of national and international organizations. Moreover, I have contributed to the exchange knowledge and skills of journalists and Dalit rights at national, regional, and international levels. I have a high level of national and international exposure, presented various research papers on Dalit rights, human rights, journalism advocacy, writing articles, and delivered speeches on Media, Dalit, inclusion, and Human rights on national and international workshops, seminars, and conferences in different counties. I  have been awarded Dr. Ambedkar Kalashree National Award, 2013, India, Media International Social Awareness Award, 2013, Nepal, Australian Leadership Award, 2010, Australia, National Social Service Award, 2016, Government of Nepal, Grassroots fellowship, May 18 foundation, S. Korea 2018, and many more from different national and international organizations. I have done a master’s degree in media and mass communication.

My work reflects my values and enables me to travel widely and enhance the lives of others.   • Coordinated with different marginalized community like Dalit, Women, Indigenous, LGBTIQ+, differently disabled people, Madhesi and Muslim people.
  • Formed National Census 2011 Citizen Observation Committee (NCOC 2011).
  • Set up an office for NCOC and analyzed the Policy in terms of Social Inclusion, Data analysis and collaborated with the government of Nepal’s Department of Census Bureau, Civil Society, Media and other stakeholders.
  • Organized media campaigns and award marginalized communities for accurate census.

 COVID-19

  • Initiated a media campaign against COVID-19 pandemic targeting to inform Dalit and marginalized people about the virus.
  • Mobilized CSOs and journalists across the country to exchange information, helped to create awareness
  • Collaborated with different people from Civil Society, NGOs and INGOs, Journalists, Parliamentarians and Government Officials aiming to inform and aware people about COVID.
  • Connected with various international organizations virtually to exchange information and measures to flatten the curve.
  • Wrote articles on different violence done to Dalit’s and marginalized people during the lockdown period.
  • Collaborated with different organizations to give reliefs to displaced students and journalists.
  • Helped in Policy, Budget, program by the Government of Nepal to effectively work during the time of crisis and impact of COVID-19.

SOCIAL PROTECTION CIVIL SOCIETY NETWORK

  • Social Protection Civil Society Network is a liberal forum comprising of non-government organizations and civil societies who are dedicated towards improving Social Protection Programs in Nepal. This network was first established on 16th February, 2012. Since its establishment 19 various civil society organizations have joined this network.
  • I served as the President for two years.
  • Coordinated and collaborated with Save the Children, UNICEF, ILO, World Bank and Government Officials for making a proper social protection system.
